The Final of 10th Guangxi Youth Opera Competition Opened in Nanning

On the evening of July 29, the final of the 10th Guangxi Youth Opera Competition kicked off at Guangxi Nationalities Theatre. Co-organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Federation of Literary and Art Circles of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the event was hosted by Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Drama Theatre and Guangxi Dramatists Association.
Thiscompetition was officially launched in April 2025.After 123 contestants from 12 cultural institutions advanced to the semi-final, 71 young talents from 11 institutions ultimately qualified for the final. The competition features six major opera genres, including Gui Opera, Zhuang Opera, Caidiao Opera, Peking Opera, Cantonese Opera, and YongOpera, covering roles such as Sheng (malescharacters), Dan (femalescharacters), Jing (painted face characters), and Chou (clownroles).
Young performers have vividly portrayed many classic opera characters through their solid skills, passionate dedication, and nuanced acting.The performance o f singing, recitation, acting and martial arts, not only showcases the profound traditional heritage and diverse genres of Guangxi opera, but also infuses the unique understanding and youthful energy of the new generation of young actors, presenting the vigorous vitality of traditional art in the process of inheritance and innovation.
